Since its inception in the early 1970s, Electrical Lighting Company—known today as Elitco—has evolved from a humble electrical contracting firm into one of the UAE’s most respected names in lighting and electrical solutions. What began as a one-man vision is now a multi-branch, multi-brand enterprise recognized for quality, reliability, and innovation.
1971–1972: Elitco was established in Abu Dhabi as an electrical contractor, committed to offering reliable electrical services during a period of rapid regional development.
1973: The first showroom opened in Abu Dhabi, marking the company’s expansion from services into product sales.
1974–1975: A second showroom was launched in Dubai, featuring globally trusted brands such as CROMPTON, USHA, and ANANDSON.
1975–1976: The third branch opened in Sharjah, significantly broadening Elitco’s portfolio with brands like FUJI ELECTRIC, EGATUBE, BARTON, GINT, LEGRAND, and FEDERAL ELECTRIC.
1980–1981: Expansion continued with the opening of the Al Ain showroom. International sourcing began with strategic business trips to Taiwan and Hong Kong, introducing the KSS TAIWAN brand to the UAE market.
1985–1986: Elitco shifted focus to trading and launched its first indoor lighting container, reflecting growing market demand. Partnerships were formed with well-established brands including REAL TEND, PDL, Clipsal Annular, RICHFIELD, and GREATSTAR.
1989–1992: The company’s management relocated to Dubai, centralizing operations and aligning with the emirate's rise as a regional commercial hub. Elitco also became a GE Lighting distributor in the Northern Emirates, further strengthening its market position.
1995–1998: New showrooms opened in Karama and Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, to better serve growing urban customer bases. During this period, the brand portfolio expanded to include Yahualux, Lutec, LEDS C4, Layrton Spain, and PCE Austria, offering a wide range of decorative and functional lighting products for residential and commercial applications.
1999–2002: Elitco took a major digital leap with the launch of its first website, signaling a commitment to modernization and accessibility. The company also received ISO certification and built dedicated warehouse and workshop facilities to support growing demand and operational complexity.
2004–2020: The launch of elitco.com, one of the UAE’s first e-commerce platforms in the lighting sector, marked a new chapter. The company introduced proprietary and global brands like Elitco, DPS (Robers), EFFORT GOOD, Griffin, and Titan.
Throughout the 2010s, Elitco focused on strengthening its supply chain, optimizing logistics, and enhancing customer service. This era laid the groundwork for the digital and global expansion that would follow in the next decade.
2020: With international sales accounting for over 40% of total revenue, Elitco reinforced its position as a regional leader with global reach. E-commerce operations were significantly expanded to serve clients across borders.
2025 and Beyond: The company launched a newly redesigned website and revitalized its brand identity, reflecting a modern outlook while staying true to its core values of quality, trust, and service excellence.
